Bus Driver
Reports to: Transportation director
Supervises: n/a
Qualifications: Valid CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement
State of Oklahoma bus driving certificate
Yearly physician’s statement certifying fitness for duty
Job Goal: Provide safe and efficient transportation to allow students to access the district’s curriculum and extra curricular programs.
Employment Terms: 176 days

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Evaluation: Annually by transportation director

Regular Requirements: Sit for extended periods; climb bus steps; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally Lift/move up to 25 pounds
Visual Requirements: Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operate district busses in a safe manner, including obeying all traffic laws and observing all mandatory school bus safety regulations.
2. Inspect bus for mechanical defects prior to each operation and clean bus after each operation.
3. Complete all required paperwork, including preventive maintenance trip worksheets.
4. Promptly report any accident and complete required paperwork.
5. Follow assigned schedule and routes. Only transport authorized students.
6. Notify supervisor in the event of mechanical failure, late arrival or other difficulties.
7. Maintain order and discipline on busses (based on school policy) and promptly report any disciplinary problems to the transportation director.
8. Exercise professionalism during school trips.
9. Comply with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.
10. Utilize professional behavior in all school related interactions.
11. Perform all other tasks as requested by supervisor.
